Luftgekühlt comes to Bicester Heritage

Luftgekühlt held it’s first event outside the States a couple of weeks ago at the ever popular Bicester Heritage site in Oxfordshire. After an unprecedented heatwave, the more familiar British summer weather returned for one day, but this didn’t deter air-cooled fans turning up in droves.

The former RAF bomber station framed the Luftgekühlt story in a perfectly British way. Like past shows, the event featured a blend of curated, rarities and enthusiasts’ cars. Between the historic building an original Porsche 911R would sit across from the Singer DLS development car. At Sports Purpose, a classic Porsche specialist based at Bicester Heritage and co-host of the Luft GB gathering, sat a brace of Porsche 550RSes, including the 'Wing’.

Elsewhere two 904 GTSes, the European GT Championship winning Kremer Racing Porsche 911 2.8 RSR from 1973, a Porsche 911 3.0 RS, a Jägermeister Racing 934, the Paul Smith 911 and an impressive line-up of holy-grail Porsche 911s – from the original 2.7 RS to the 964 RS, were all on display with numerous other air-cooled Porsches. Next stop for Luftgekühlt is Munich on the 16th September. Images courtesy of Luftgekühlt, Vince Perraud and Sev Pieto.
