Menacing Mopar

Featuring a menacing stance, this 1967 Dodge Charger is the product of Johnson's Hot Rod Shop based in Gadsden, Alabama. This Charger may retain its basic original cues, yet the body, chassis and suspension were re-imagined and re-engineered to achieve its captivating stance and profile. Its builders were extremely well-qualified to perform the task, with a body of work stretching back to the early 1990s.

Subtle body tweaks performed by the crew at JHRS leave the Charger’s unique bodylines undisturbed and are only truly apparent upon closer inspection. Both front and rear bumpers were narrowed and flush-fitted for an extremely clean visual effect and the front bumper was equipped with openings to deliver cooler air to the transmission and power-steering coolers. The rear bumper was also further massaged with horizontal openings added to accommodate the dual exhaust-outlet tips. The driveline was tucked closer underneath the Charger’s body for improved looks and aerodynamics with the addition of a new transmission and driveshaft tunnel, and the rear wheel wells were moved 3 inches inward at each side of the car.

At its heart, the Charger features greatly enhanced power and performance with the installation of a 528 Hemi V8 engine delivering just over 650 hp. It should come as no surprise that this amazing custom 1967 Dodge Charger served as the featured cover car for the April 2012 edition of ‘Popular Hot Rodding’ magazine, in keeping with many of the custom creations built at Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop over the past 25 years. Certainly one of the most unique and highly detailed custom interpretations of Dodge’s first-generation Charger in recent years, this 1967 Dodge Charger Restomod retains its classic NASCAR-inspired character with select improvements and the ability to excel in every possible discipline.
