1975 Lamborghini Countach LP400 'Periscopio'

Surprisingly from the same drawing board as the svelte Miura—that of the legendary Marcelo Gandini of Bertone Design—the angular appearance and proliferation of trapezoidal panels on Lamborghini’s newest supercar, the Countach, divided opinion and challenged convention in equal measure. Even the chassis numbering system was quirky; whilst the example offered here bears chassis number 62, it was actually only the 31st car made, due to Lamborghini’s aversion to using odd numbers for the LP400 sequence. In total, a mere 150 LP400 chassis are confirmed as having been completed, and they remain by far the purest and most desirable examples of the Countach breed.

RM Sotheby's will be offering this example at their upcoming Villa Erba auction on the 27th May, the estimated value is between €900,000 – €1,100,000. For more information on this and other vehicles at the sale, click on the link below. Photos: Tim Scott ©2017 Courtesy of RM Sotheby's.
